Evolution Of The CB Radio
CB radio was promoted for short range communication, whether for business or personal use. In 1958, Class D CB radio service at 27 MHz began, including a band for public use. Requests from truck drivers and others for a cheaper mode of communication led the government to allot 18 channels for CB radio communication. During the 1960’s, CB radio service was popular among indicate trade people, such as plumbers and electricians, and transportation services, like taxis and truckers.
The popularity of CB radios during 1970’s was mainly due to films, television shows and popular songs. Public service codes that were initially used by police and fire services were allowed to be used for short acknowledgement services. The codes were often used in shortened form, and gradually slang terms developed. The advancement of technology also increased the popularity of CB radio services. The equipment became cheaper and smaller. This gave regular people access to technology that was previously available only to experts. These CB radios were mostly plug-in quartz crystal-controlled and AM only.
CB Radio Service in the United States
In the United States, there were initially 23 CB radio services. During the 1960’s, channels were categorized by intra-station and inter-station communications. In the 1970’s, channel 9 was designated for use only for emergency purposes. Channel 10 was promoted for use in highway communications, while for general purposes, channel 11 was used. Later, channel 19 was switched to highway communications use.
From the beginning, CB radio services didn’t require licensing, but the use of a call sign was required. Soon, people ignored these basics and started using nicknames, or “handles,” as they are popularly known. These handles were primarily used by truck drivers to send road condition or traffic warnings to other truck drivers. There were still many restrictions on antenna size and the distance the signal could be sent, but gradually the call sign regulation was dropped.
In 1973, several groups in the United States campaigned for allocation of frequencies near 220MHz for Class E band services. Although initially opposed, the government sponsored the Multi-use Radio Service in the 1980’s, Family Radio Service, and General Mobile Radio Service.
CB Radio Service in Australia and Britain
CB radio service was a world-wide phenomenon during the 1970’s and 1980’s. In Great Britain, CB radio service was finally legalized in 1981. In Australia, CB radio services began in the 1960’s when American walkie-talkies became available at selected outlets. The 27 MHz was intended to be temporary, with the users required to move to the UHF band within five years, but due to its popularity the Australian government included all the 40 channels in the band.
At present, CB radios have lost many users due to the presence of mobile communication services and the popularity of the Internet, but it remains widely used on American highways and, most likely, always will.

Ham Radio
Amateur radio (also called ham radio) is a hobby enjoyed by about 3 million people throughout the world and over 600,000 in the USA alone. It is about communications and the multiple ways of communicating through radio waves.
What most people do not know about this hobby and the people that are operators is that they are one of the most used groups as means of emergency communication, when other conventional means of communications fail, in a disaster situation for example.
Local communications is one of the first things to go away in case of a disaster such as hurricanes or tornadoes. Phones and electricity go down and the only thing left is amateur radio operators that can operate from a battery and a piece of wire for an antenna.
These operators have networks set up all over the world that can be immediately activated and used to coordinate disaster relief activities. Recent examples include the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, when amateurs worked weeks side by side with rescue crews supplying communications.
Amateur operators were also involved this last year in all the hurricanes that we had all over the world. They have been watching and reporting the advance of the storms, setting up nets to pass traffic for rescue groups as well as passing health and welfare traffic to people trying the get in touch with relatives in the stricken area. They carry a message out to someone that says we are ok and we are alive and that is always great.
The National Weather Service might have great radars, but a radar can't see the storms like human eyes can. Just ask someone that works for the weather service about the role of radio operators and you will get one answer- they are the “eyes” of the National Weather Service. They are on duty any time that there are storms in the area. Any time of day and night these people are watching storms and reporting what they see.
Their accurate reports can be used immediately by the weather service and further by the local radio and TV stations which broadcast the reported data to the public.
Amateur radio operators are saving thousands of lives each year, yet this gets almost no recognition. And the kicker is that their service is at no cost to the public. As mentioned before, amateur radio is a personal hobby; this means the operators buy all their own radio equipment.
And they use it for public safety. Whenever needed to warn the public of danger.
Are they heroes? Think about it.

What Is A Two Way Radio
When I first heard about two way radios, I was like “what is that?” I figured it was a radio, as in FM/AM, something you listen to music on. That is not the case. A two way radio is simply another word for a CB radio or a walkie-talkie.
It’s funny how often we as a society assume we know what something is by the way that it sounds. On the other hand, it’s also quite comical that people name things with terms that don’t sound like what it is.
While two way radios do in fact utilize radio frequencies to send and receive sound (and sometimes beeps, Morse code or other info), they are in no way a radio in the conventional sense. By conventional, I mean the way society generally understands the word.
Two way radios nowadays are very modern wireless CB radios that anyone can purchase at a local store. You may want a set for personal reasons or business reasons.
Business applications are very obvious. For example, if you have an assistant that you need to get a hold of easily at all times, or during certain work-related events, a two way radio can be handy. The distance span is usually only a few miles or so, so it would only be helpful if you were within the specified distance from the person you are trying to communicate with.
What makes two way radios helpful is that they are better than cell phones when used in short distances, since you can instantly talk to the other person. The other nice thing is that they do one thing and do it well, and are user friendly. Many of today’s cell phones are very complicated, and make it difficult to do even the most basic thing they are supposedly intended for to begin with (making a phone call!).
A two way radio can be very helpful for personal use as well. One such example is that they can be used in lieu of an intercom system around the home. Let’s suppose you have a large house and want to be able to tell your kids when dinner is ready. You can scream across the house, buy an expensive intercom system, or just use an inexpensive set of two way radios.
Two way radios have another advantage for personal use, over the built-in intercom system. Intercom systems are usually mounted, and therefore their location is fixed. A two way radio can be moved throughout the house, or attached to a belt loop, or kept in a pocket. They can also be taken outside.
This is really handy if you need you keep tabs on your kids or other loved ones (such as those with medical problems or special needs) when they go outside of the home (or wherever you are).
A two way radio is invaluable for a multitude of situations and applications, for both personal and business use. You should pick up a set. I did, and they are seriously worth their weight in gold, and didn’t set me back much (very affordable!).

HD Radio
For individuals who love to listen to music in their car and want a high-quality sound, they may want to consider looking into HD radio. HD radio is an easy way to upgrade both FM and AM channels. Instead of receiving analog signals, individuals with HD receive digital signals. What this means, is a clearer, crisper sound that is closer in quality to a CD then to traditional, FM radio.
If you are an individual that listens to AM radio stations but are disappointed and annoyed with the typical, lower quality sound, this will enable your AM radio listening experience to be very similar to your FM listening experience. This is a huge upgrade in itself. You also no longer have to worry about the signal fading or the static that often breaks up your favorite shows that are played on AM radio.
You also get more information, and then you would by simply listening to traditional radio. You'll be able to receive the name of the artist and the titles of every song that is played. This enables you to go out and purchase the CD or download MP3s anytime that you hear a song that you like.
You also will have more options, because HD radio does come with multi-casting. This allows you to listen to a lot more stations and DJ’s. Another very neat feature of HD radio is that it allows users to tag songs so that they can go on and buy them from Itunes at a later time.
HD radio was created IBiquity digital and it allows radio stations to buy a license to this technology. Another advantage of HD radio is that if an individual is no longer pleased with it or no longer finds it necessary, they can go back to listening to the analog signal. This is a bit different from HDTV, because in a few years, individuals will not have a choice, because the analog signal will be turned off permanently. This is not the case with HD radio.
HD radio allows for a very advanced, clear and informative listening experience. Users can listen to their favorite shows and even additional channels. They are also able to get artists and song titles of all songs that are played. This gives them the opportunity to identify an artist and then go out and purchase the album, if they feel so inclined. HD radio is also an excellent choice for individuals that listen to a lot of AM radio. It allows them to finally be able to listen to it clearly. HD radio involves using a digital signal instead of the old traditional analog. This allows for a listening experience that is much closer to what would expect when listening to a CD. The music will have much more clarity and will have a much higher quality. If you are interesting in purchasing HD radio, don’t worry, it’s free. You will however, have to pay for the HD tuner which isn’t too much of a hassle or expense though.

Part 1 of a Radio Interview with Mukee Okan
Mukee Okan, acclaimed sexual healer and champion of sexual fulfillment is interviewed about her work curing premature ejaculation.
D: Welcome. I'm Dr. Jeanette Case, and we're going to be talking tonight with Mukee Okan.
Mukee describes herself as a transformation agent and mentor to all dedicated to enhancing their intimate relationships and experiencing their sexual energy as a whole new level of positive experience.
Her focus is sex for more pleasure, creativity, energy, and abundance in your life every day. Originally from Australia, Mukee is a Sacred Sexuality teacher.
Her foundation is Tantra, a philosophy that encourages an acceptance of sex as natural and life affirming. She is also highly trained as a sexual surrogate partner therapist in the Western medical model.
Mukee has guided many individuals and couples for many years in simple ways to have more balance, happiness and fulfillment in their sex lives.
She claims that she can guide any man to transform premature ejaculation forever, so that you can last longer every single time. She says this is essential to a better sex life. So welcome, Mukee.
M: Thank you, Jeanette.
D: Let's go ahead and get started with some of these questions. You know, tell me about the basis of the claim that you make that you can help someone overcome the problem of premature ejaculation, especially since you're a woman.
M: Well, as you know, I'm absolutely dedicated to the upliftment of the sexual well-being of humanity - that is my work -and so the most frequent sexual concern that I'm asked to help with is premature ejaculation.
So all of the techniques that I teach, the controlling premature ejaculation and lasting longer, now I've been using them very successfully with male clients for at least the last ten years. So I know they work.
D: Well now, why is there such a focus on lasting longer?
M: Well, to focus on lasting longer, we really need to look at a bigger perspective. So that would involve seeing that sexual energy is our life force energy.
You know, it's not just a stress release thing, you know, when we have sex with our partner. There is a much bigger perspective.
So it's the same energy that makes everything possible that's in existence, from the sun and the planets and the oceans to human beings and the plants and the animals; the driving force is our sexual energy. So that in a way is our will to live.
And so the birthright of every human being is to fully experience their infinite capacity for pleasure, for orgasm and for intimacy. And so number one, most people don't realize that your sexual energy is for your health.
Your health physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and sexually. So when a man learns how to increase his capacity to first of all experience pleasure by lasting longer, they're able to experience longer periods of arousal and his sex life has a totally different quality.
So rather than just being a stress release mechanism, it can become a rich, fulfilling experience for a man, and his partner of course.
D: Wow, that just puts a totally new light on it. So now why do men experience premature ejaculation?
M: I would say the number one reason that men experience it is anxiety of, "Oh my god, it's gonna happen again," or simply being totally back in the past and stressed out and in a state of tension because that is what happens near pretty much all of the time or all of the time.

iPod Connectivity and Satellite Radio
Without any difficulty, drivers can now enjoy audio presentations by plugging their iPod into their vehicles or by just listening to Sirius satellite radio. These innovations are brought by Ford to the automobile industry in its latest vehicle lineup. Said big changes are expected to double the sales of Ford vehicles in the year to come.
Mark Fields, Ford's president of the Americas noted, "We at Ford have pledged to listen more closely to our customers, and that includes knowing how they want to use their personal audio devices while driving. We see the booming trend in the audio marketplace, and we are responding quickly in our vehicles."
In addition, Doug VanDagens, director of Ford's product and business development for electronics said, "The iPod has been a huge hit, and we at Ford wanted to develop a way for people to bring the device into their Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle without having to fuss with the device while driving. What we've accomplished with the integration of the iPod into our vehicles is just one piece of a much broader effort at Ford Motor Company to respond to customer trends more quickly."
In 2007 Ford lineup, built-in auxiliary audio-input jacks were offered. The jacks allow iPod or mp3 player integration to come up with an impeccable audio output in the vehicle. Said lineup includes Ford Edge, Mustang, Fusion, Explorer, Expedition, Sport Trac, Ranger, F-150 and more.
Early next year, Ford will also be offering TripTunes Advanced audio system. The latter is an iPod integration that provides quality sounds even while recharging. TripTunes Advanced allows the driver to keep the ipod in the glove box and select or manage music through the radio controls or steering wheel.
